I remember my dreams most nights. When I wake I will let my mind grasp them momentarily and then I let them slip away. I used to dream I could fly. Not high like superman but high enough. High enough to feel the air play around me, joy and wonder fill me.
Its been years since I’ve flown.
Sometimes I feel like a bird who has clipped her own wings.
There are as many beautiful flowers as there are beautiful women who love them.
A handful of types of flowers and their meaning:
- Amaryllis: Splendid beauty
- Aster: Patience
- Delphinium: Heavenly
- Asiatic Lily: Majesty
- Oncidium Orchid: A belle
- Roses: Love
- Snapdragon: Desire
Drawing Day 2010 was June 5, 2010. This time I’m only 2 days late. This is my drawing for drawing day; in pencil and took about 10 minutes. My drawing from last year: Raven.
So what is your favorite flower(s)? Mine… orchids and lilies.
Like the title says, it is a random tree outside of a random window, drawn years ago when I actually carried my drawing pad around with me. The two things I seem to enjoy drawing the most are trees and hands.
words spill from my eyes
they pile upon each other
in an orgy without satisfaction
(do I close my eyes then
stop the ceaseless flow
or welcome the ramifications?)
I did this portrait a few months back. I used charcoal and an eraser and it took me about 10 minutes. I could have made some changes to improve it, but I left it alone after my initial completion.
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted – nevermore!
– Edgar Allan Poe: The Raven (excerpt)
Raven Pencil Drawing:
So I didn’t draw anything on “drawing day,” but its still a drawing. I spent about an hour on this and I could do a lot more to it, but I wanted to leave it incomplete.
Things about Ravens:
- Ravens are among the smartest of all birds
- Ravens are the largest species of songbird
- Ravens are the largest all-black bird in the world
- Over the centuries, it has been the subject of mythology, folklore, art and literature
- In many indigenous cultures the Raven has been revered as a spiritual figure or god
- According to legend, if the ravens leave the Tower of London, the fortress and the British kingdom will fall.
