I went to see the movie Catfish with a friend last weekend. So as not to give anything away I will only say it is a low budget documentary that is playing in a limited number of theaters. My friend said it had good reviews and to find out as little as possible before watching it, so I never watched the trailer.
The dialogue and camera work wasn’t too impressive and it would probably leave most people feeling depressed. But to its credit it left me thinking and feeling grateful for the things in my life. Here are just a few major things that I am appreciative of.
When I first saw the preview for this pixar movie, it looked fairly decent for a children’s movie, but I didn’t see anything stellar in the preview. However, after I watched the movie, I have no doubts that it deserved the academy award.
As expected, Up has the humor and adventure that kids love, but the surprising part, it also has an engaging, adult storyline that is subtly revealed throughout the movie.
The Big Kahuna
1999 movie adapted from the play Hospitality Suite featuring Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito and Peter Facinelli. It is a 90 minute film where most of the scenes are in a hotel room and the action consists of dialogues between the three actors.
I saw this movie for the first time the other day. My reaction after watching it was why haven’t I seen it before now and what a brilliant movie! I love long epic movies like Lord of the Rings and can enjoy a big budget film just for the effects, but many, many times movies fall short on the plot and dialogue. Since this movie was entirely dialogues and monologues, it required actors with skill who could express their character in full within a few conversations. There is quite a vast amount of topics that these characters touch upon: honesty, faithfulness, change, religion, life, death, conflict, regret, friendship.
There are so many quotes that I love. Here I chose one quote for each accompanying video.
They got a spotlight over the Jon. That and there’s mirrors on three sides so you can actually watch yourself wiping your own ass!
I’m talking about something bigger than God. At issue is what we are here to do, we’re here to sell lubricants, Bob. We‘re not here to save souls.
When you see the folly in something you’ve done. And you wish you had it to do over. But you know you can’t because it’s too late. So you pick that thing up and you carry it with you. To remind you that life goes on. The world will spin without you. You really don’t matter in the end. Then you will attain character because honesty will reach out from inside and tattoo itself all across your face.
I love this book.
Funny, about 3 months ago I made a plinky post about this book.
I really liked the trailer and I am super excited about the movie coming out.
I don’t even know how many times I have watched this movie. It is a classic that everyone needs to watch at least once.
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
I think he like to scream at *us*.
Probably he means no *harm*.
He’s really very short on *charm*.
You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.
Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

So bow down to her if you want, bow to her. Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence. Boo. Boo. Rubbish. Filth. Slime. Muck. Boo. Boo. Boo.
